Kevin Fenton: Foundations of Choral Conducting

Foundations of Choral Conducting is an undergraduate conducting text designed to apply knowledge students have gained through applied lessons, participation in ensembles, and coursework to the conducting process. It will teach students to become engaging and effective conductors who know how to analyze music to determine how it should sound. Conductors who listen so they hear- really hear- how members of the choir are singing and conductors who have at their disposal a variety of teaching strategies. Foundations of Choral Conducting is designed to progressively disclose characteristics of the effective conductor, beginning with gesture, moving into score study and then rehearsal planning and execution.
